3025 3026 Phenolic Cotton Cloth Laminated Sheet for Gears, Bushings & Insulation

Phenolic Cotton Cloth Laminated Sheets, commonly known as textolite sheets or bakelite cotton boards, are laminated materials made by hot pressing cotton cloths impregnated with a thermosetting phenol-formaldehyde-based binder. Adopting cotton cloth as the base, the material possesses high compression strength and resilience, along with outstanding wear resistance, and can be easily machined by drilling, cutting and forging. It retains stable structural integrity and insulating properties in air and transformer oil under normal relative humidity, with a long-term allowable working temperature ranging from -65°C to +105°C, which makes it ideal for manufacturing components subjected to reversed electrical and mechanical stresses and friction applications such as bushings, gears, cams, and bearings.

Material Grades & International Standard Equivalents

1. Material Grades

Our phenolic cotton laminates are available in standard grades tailored for different applications:

Grade Fabric Type Typical Applications Key Characteristics
3025 Coarse cloth General mechanical parts, gears, bearings, wear-resistant components High mechanical strength, excellent impact resistance, cost-effective
3026 Fine cloth Precision machined parts, small gears, tight-tolerance components Superior dimensional stability, smooth surface finish, consistent machining accuracy

2.International Standard Equivalents

  • IEC 60893: PFCC 201 (fine weave, equivalent to 3026) / PFCC 202 (coarse weave, equivalent to 3025)
  • DIN 7735: HGW 2082 (PFCC 201) / HGW 2082.5 (PFCC 202)
  • NEMA: CE grade (mechanical and electrical applications)

Cost Comparison with Alternatives

Phenolic cotton cloth laminates deliver balanced performance and cost benefits against mainstream alternative engineering materials.

Compared with FR4/G10 epoxy glass cloth, phenolic cotton laminate is 20-40% more cost-effective. It offers qualified mechanical properties for general mechanical use, making it a more economical choice where premium electrical performance is not required.

Compared with phenolic paper laminates 3020/3021, cotton cloth type has a slightly higher raw material cost, but provides far better mechanical strength and wear resistance. It achieves longer service life and lower overall lifecycle cost under heavy mechanical and friction working conditions.

Compared with metal materials such as bronze and aluminum, phenolic cotton laminate can reduce volume cost by 40-70%. Its low density greatly reduces transportation and operation energy consumption, while excellent self-lubrication and corrosion resistance also save daily maintenance expenses.
