Rogers Poron 4790-79 is a type of shock seal polyurethane foam material, which provides engineers a kind of thick grade material for gasket design, cushions, spacers or springs. It has two grades, which is handheld grade and industrial grade. The thickness of Handheld grade ranges from 0.53 to 1 mm (0.021 to 0.039 in.), and industrial grade ranges from 1.57 to 12.77 mm (0.062 to 0.5 in.) 4790-79 series foam tape can absorb more energy when compared to higher density materials.
The handheld grade can reduce the impact force by up to four times compare to other materials, and it’s usually applied to some of the smallest and most intricate handheld device designs as cushioning and sealing solutions. The industrial grades are recognized by UL gasketing and sealing (UL50E/UL508) and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 302 (FMVSS 302) specifications, which can be applied to automotive industry and other generation industrial applications.
