The 3M 8992 Polyester Tape is a dark-green polyester tape with a silicone adhesive—an ideal, cost-effective choice for reliable powder-coat masking. The polyester film offers excellent thermal, abrasion, and chemical resistance while staying flexible, and the silicone adhesive withstands higher heat than many rubber or acrylic systems, reducing softening, oozing, and adhesive transfer. The tape performs across –58 °F (–50 °C) to 400 °F (204 °C) and suits many high-temperature tasks, including powder-coat masking, flash-breaker work, and bag sealing. It is likewise useful for splicing, tabbing, or roll-closing silicone-treated liners or materials. 3M 8992 is the thicker version of the blue 3M 8991 Polyester Tape, while 8992L is the linered version.
